I was fortunate enough to experience my first "mission field" baptism this weekend. We have befriended a family in our ward that has been inactive for a while, and Kamoren decided to get baptised. He is 10, and is just the coolest kid. He and DB have really gotten along well, and DB has enjoyed the chance to get to go to scouts all in the name of helping Kamoren feel more comfortable by knowing someone there. This is a fascinating family that is so unbelievably different from my own that it has been an unbelievable experience to get to know them. They have had a rough past and it has been awesome to see some hope in their lives because of the gospel. You just really don't get to see a lot of that in Utah. It has been a bit difficult at times to understand each other because of these huge differences, but that is the cool thing about the church....no matter how different you are, when you are converted, you at least have the same long term goals, and that gives you common ground to start with (or retreat back to) Ben baptized him, and was happy that he remembered the words and was able to translate them into english from spanish, and Kamoren asked me to speak on the Holy Ghost. It was a good day on Saturday. It has also been so fun to get to know our missionaries and have them over.....a lot. Ben just can't help himself as many of you know, and loves having them over for dinner.

And today being mother's day, Ben took good care of me and managed to make me breakfast before he rushed off for the hour drive to pick up this family to get them to the church for Kamoren's baptism. Our church is at nine, and if you know Ben at all, this is a big deal to get up early enough to accomplish all of this before nine......love ya babe! They don't have a reliable working car, so Ben has become their chauffer to church events. He is such a good missionary, and in being so charitable, helps me in being better too. I love my moms and grandmas, and know that I am the mom I am because of them. I love my boys, and as much as I want to strangle them sometimes, I am glad they made me a mom.

Good weekend.

I LOVE missionary work! That is so awesome that Ben got to baptize that little boy.
I had to stop having the missionaries over b/c they would come and want to hang-out. BAD!!! I'm in no way contributing to the slacking of missionaries when their on the Lord's time clock!
Great job Elder and Sister Shoff and little Elder DB Shoff! :)
We all knew this about Ben! He has the softest heart in the whole family....
What a cute little family you are!
