Ben is finally home from the hospital! Yay! It was quite a week that I am sure neither of us will soon be forgetting! For documentation purposes, here is the deal:
He was feeling sick on Tuesday while he was working in Memphis and called and asked me what I thought about him driving home, or if he should go to the ER. I told him to check in with his employees who could actually SEE what kind of shape he was in and see what they thought. John, one of his teammates drove him to the ER himself and waited almost the whole 5 1/2 hrs with Ben to be seen. I am so grateful to him for forcing Ben to go.....things could have been much worse. Anyway, he was admitted to Baptist East Hospital on Wednesday morning with severe cellulitis. He was in pretty rough shape. He needed all sorts of pain meds and antibiotics to get fixed up. Anyway, 5 days later he finally came home, with a PICC line in his arm and a box of antibiotics to inject pretty much straight into his heart for another week! It was rough having him not only in the hospital, but just so far away from home! 3 kids and a hospital room is just a recipe for a disaster.
We found out today that Baby Girl has RSV, and will be having breathing treatments at home every 4 hours for a while until she gets better. She has been a good baby through her illness. She has slept restlessly, but I have been able to get enough sleep that I haven't wanted to kill anyone. She hasn't eaten very well which is painful but manageable, and she still smiles easily and can be consoled with some loves.
JT is recovering from his croup but has been quite ornery the last couple of days. I think he really missed his daddy too. He hasn't had a fever for about 36 hrs now (he reached 104 on Saturday night).
DB got quite restless while Ben was in the hospital, and started to take advantage of a tired/sick mom. He has gone to school only 2 days out of the last 10, and due to my lack of discipline or order among the chaos of our week, has been a bit naughty. I can't exactly blame the kid. We have been stuck inside or in the car for a majority of those days, and I've gotta admit that I have probably been just as "naughty" as he has!
I have struggled a bit during this week with a head cold, but since moms can't really be sick....well, you know. Also since I am still nursing the baby I don't like to take anything, so I just tough it out. More than once I fell asleep in the rocking chair with the baby while DB and JT ransacked our house before bed. More than once they went to bed without brushing their teeth. Lots of things just had to go by the wayside this week, but I think we just might all survive to laugh about it in a couple of months. Maybe when it is warm, and we are on vacation somewhere.

Dude! You guys got it rough. If it makes you feel any better, we feel what your going through, a little. All I can say is be glad you guys are tough as nails and a little cellulitis, RSV, croup, and a head cold are pebbles on the path. At least you guys get it all at the same time so you can all be healthy later to enjoy the onset of spring.

Amanda, I'm trying to catch up on my favorite blogs that I've neglected for so long. It sounds like you've had a rough Feb. Hopefully, everything is going much better now. We've been praying for your sweet little family every night!
I am sending that notebook to Brandon first thing Monday morning. I've got it in the envelope, addressed and ready to go. We've tried to have them over for dinner, but we've not been able to work out a time with family in town and church meetings.
Much love!!!
