And the thunder rolls....

What a weekend! I have never in my live seen so much rain. It was truly a sight to see so much rain in such a short amount of time! The flooding in Jackson here made national news, and boy did it deserve that! Friends of ours used their boats to drive into a Western Auto to rescue people, sinkholes have formed and swallowed cars, levees were obliterated and lakes/rivers exist where it was once dry. Good grief. But the thunder and lightning were absolutely amazing. The rumbling thunder that lasted for minutes at a time without letting up is almost eerie. It is like you wait for the big bang or the crack that just never comes. And the constant flashing like cameras flashing for a movie star. Truly amazing.

You know, there were tornado sirens off and on all weekend and at first they didn't bother me but last night I broke. I came to the realization that at any moment I really could have my babies ripped from me by a gust of wind. How many times in the day do I get so frustrated with my little ones? I've even told DB to just go away before!! I got myself good and worked up before bedtime and had a hard time sleeping so that I could keep an eye on my babes. I made the boys sleep in my closet/tornado shelter, and Baby Girl was in her pack 'n play right by my bed so I could grab her and go at a minutes notice. We were all in the closet for about an hour during the night just to be safe, as we had gotten word that it could be a big bad nasty one. Nothing happened. Thank heavens. I am WAY over WANTING to witness a tornado. On the bright side, the boys actually asked to sleep in the closet again. hmmmm, what could I use their bedroom for instead if I just make them sleep in the closet ALL the time? A craft room, exercise room, meditation/padded room? Oh, the possibilities.

So, we move on. Things will eventually dry out. I may not have to water my yard for months! The strawberries really perked up with their 15 inches of fresh water. Things are looking up already.

That much rain is hard to imagine! I'm so glad you're all safe. My kids loved sleeping in our closet too (when we had a bigger one, anyway.)

I say go for the padded room. At least, that's what I'd need! ;-)

I LOVE THIS WEATHER!!! Of course, it is scary, but I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with the lightning and thunder! I love sitting in our living room with the lights off just watching it. And, yes, you won't have to water you lawn for a while. One of these days you will get used to it instead of what you normally did in UT. Glad you are safe and no tornado hit you. But, I think I remember someone saying that a tornado never hits the same place twice, and since Jackson had one before you moved there, you are safe, right?

wow...and I thought you were the type that wanted to witness something big like a tornado. But now I realize how I am not really excited to witness any natural disasters as well. I guess having babies changes our thought process and some chemical levels in the brain...well, anyways. Glad your safe.

We've had storms like that here in Houston and it really makes you realize that God is in charge. Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing and He'll always watch out for you.

Good luck with the sleeping, though.
